Then and Now

Originally founded by George Wrycroft and Sons over 100 years ago and taken over by Alan Smith 40 years ago the company continues to adapt to change. Bob Farrer who has run the firm for many years wanted to keep the name going upon his retirement and so Alan Smith Builders was purchased by Relmfield Builders, a well regarded Bedford based company led by its founder Harry Noble. Alan Smith Builders will now have the support and backing of a larger group but it will run as a separate business. The aim is to maintain the 'family style' and uphold and build on 100 years of quality and service.

Design and Build

We also offer a design and build service, where your thoughts and ideas for a project are in their infancy. We will work with you using our experience and professional knowledge to transform your ideas into a viable scheme, dealing as necessary, with all planning and building regulatory matters.

We will then build it, consulting with you as the brief requires and hand over the keys upon completion.
